A SHORT HISTORY OF THE GRANBY CHAPTER
DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
LEXINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA
Granby Chapter was organized on February 1, 1973, in Lexington, with Mrs. Nancy Fox as Organizing Regent. The chapter was named for the once flourishing village of Granby, the county seat of Lexington (circa 1785 to 1818). The community of Granby consisted of a courthouse and jail, the first bridge over the Congaree River, two early forts and several trading posts, a ferry, a mill, a blacksmith shop and a coachmaking shop.
